Suspicious activity near Sharp Propane Facility found to be innocent

SOMERSET COUNTY, MD – The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious activity on U.S. Route 13, south of Princess Anne, on Friday afternoon, January 9th, 2025. A concerned citizen had observed three men taking photographs near the Sharp Propane Facility, prompting the report. This was the second such report in two weeks involving individuals in a blue SUV, similar to the previous description.
Upon arrival, a deputy found the vehicle unoccupied and spoke to the three individuals, who identified themselves as train enthusiasts photographing nearby trains. The deputy confirmed their story and noted the presence of a train in the area. The men cooperated fully, providing prior details of their activities.
After reviewing the situation, the sheriff’s office determined there was no immediate threat to public safety. They also contacted the FBI-Baltimore Field Office and the Eastern Shore Information Center to ensure proper information was shared.
