Stephanie Willey named General Manager at WMDT
SALISBURY, Md. – The new year brought in new leadership at WMDT: Stephanie Willey was named General Manager of the station.
“We have an incredible staff. I have great team leaders and I’m very blessed, really I’ve inherited a really good operation,” explains Willey
The Salisbury native took over as GM on January 1, but is no stranger having served as General Sales Manager for three years. Television held an interest for Willey from an early age.
“I actually started off as a communications major and I wanted to be an anchor,” reminisces Willey. “It’s kind of ironic that after my career journey took me through various stages, I am now GM of a broadcast station.”
Willey brings with her a lengthy career in business and deep roots in the community.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been very active in the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. I was president in 2004-2005, I’m still on their council At-Large Board and I also chair the Foundation Board for the Chamber.”
She’s also served served on the Board for the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, saying giving back is an important part of her life.
“I’m very passionate about this community and I’ve been volunteering since I was a little girl,” says Willey.
It’s that hard work and dedication that Willey promises to continue in her new role as General Manager.
“Our slogan, Because Local Matters, is just perfect as far as summarizing what the station represents.”
Willey will also continue in her role as General Sales Manager at WMDT.
