Senator Carozza applauds President Trump’s decision to sign executive order that halts offshore wind projects
OCEAN CITY, Md. – President Donald Trump’s first executive orders halt offshore wind projects. Currently, there’s a planned project off the coast in Ocean City.
There has been a coalition of local leaders who have been fighting against US Wind. One of them is Maryland State Senator Mary Beth Carozza. This project would impact the coastal environment and impact marine life, which could have long-term impacts on the economy.
The StopOffshoreWinds coalition includes cities, individuals, and organizations in both Maryland and Delaware.
Senator Carozza said this is a step in the right direction. “The fact is, this executive order that President Trump has put forth is the strongest action to date in opposition to moving forward with the offshore wind turbines.”
Governor Wes Moore has pushed for the project, and Senator Carozza hopes he will listen to the coalition’s concerns.
