Second arrest made in Dover crash that left toddler in critical condition
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police have made a second arrest in a crash that left a 1-year-old in critical condition earlier this week.
The crash took place just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the 700 block of East Loockerman Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find a 1-year-old boy suffering from serious injuries. The boy was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus and later airlifted to a New Castle County hospital for treatment, where he remains listed in critical condition.
An adult passenger was also in the vehicle but was not injured. No other injuries were reported.
Further investigation revealed that the driver, 22-year-old Lamar Howard, was under the influence of marijuana while driving a 2012 Dodge Durango when he reportedly drove off the roadway and hit a tree. The child was allegedly not properly restrained in a car seat, which led to his critical injuries.
It was also learned that Howard had a no-contact order with the female passenger.
On Thursday, police arrested 21-year-old Patience Dodd after learning that she had a no-contact order with Howard and was in violation of that order. She was subsequently charged with endangering the welfare of a child and non compliance with bond, and was released on her own recognizance.
