Salisbury residential building fire deemed accidental

SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury Fire Marshal says a multi-unit residential building fire late Tuesday night has been ruled accidental.

The fire was reported at around 11:40 p.m. at 221 Broad Street. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which was determined to have started on an outside balcony. Total damage was estimated at $5,000.

Fire Marshals are reminding citizens to exercise caution when disposing of smoking materials. You shouldn’t leave burning cigarettes unattended, be sure to put cigarettes out completely in a metal container filled with water, and don’t throw butts in potted plants or landscaping.
