TALBOT CO., Md. – Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced on Friday that no charges will be filed in the fatal police-involved chase in Talbot County last summer.

On July 22, 2024, deputies with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office tried to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Route 50 and Dutchmans Lane, but the driver did not stop and continued driving on Route 50. The chase ended several minutes later when the car crashed into a tree in the 8300 block of Black Dog Alley. There were a total of four people in the vehicle at the time of the incident, three of whom were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released. One passenger was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

After completing the investigation and evaluating all available evidence, the Office of the Attorney General determined that none of the officers involved in this pursuit committed a crime under Maryland law, and none of the officers will be prosecuted.
