Local homeless tent encampment in Salisbury is looking for support
SALISBURY, Md. – On a walking path in the woods, is a ‘Tent City’ which is home to the local homeless community and they’re looking for help. Pastor Troy Tilghman of the Relentless Faith Christian Church is leading the charge.
“I got introduced to this community back in June 2024, and ever since then, it’s been in my heart to come out and serve the community.”
Recent snowfall caused tent damage and unsafe conditions. Tilghman told WMDT there are several things people can do to help. “There’s a lot to be done, they will need blankets, gloves, hats, and diapers.”
This isn’t the only encampment in the area. According to Tilghman, there are others near Beaglin Park Drive and Route 50. However, he urges the community to respect their privacy.
“They are full of families, some are disabled, some are senior citizens, and some have children that need attention.”
Pastor Tilghman is asking the community to come together and provide donations. “We need everyone’s help, one man can’t do it, one church can’t do it, it’ll take the entire community, united we have to stand.”
Pastor Tilghman is collaborating with city officials to install trash cans near the homeless encampment.
