Local health departments host heart health event

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – Get ready to pull out your finest red attire because Wicomico and Somerset Health Departments are hosting the annual Go Red Walk the Red-Carpet event.

February marks American Heart Health month, a time when doctors call on folks to prioritize their health and find new ways to get active.

At this year’s event, attendees will have the chance to walk the red carpet, win prizes and receive a free health screening. Takeisha Collins with the Wicomico Health Department encouraged people to register now, before it closes on the 24th.

“When the Health Department does something, we want to make sure we incorporate the health aspect of it,” said Collins. “For this night, since it’s women’s heart health, getting a screening with your blood pressure, would also help identify any problematic areas that may occur.”
