Governor Moore addresses budget deficit
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Wes Moore spoke to the press Wednesday at the state capitol.
One of the topics he addressed was the budget deficit Maryland currently faces.
Governor Moore is looking to cut around 2 billion dollars from that deficit in the coming year.
He said part of which cuts are made will be determined by what happens on the federal side with the new administration.
“We as a government need to make sure we are being more efficient in the way we are thinking about our capital. I think the other thing though, is you can not, when you are looking at what your investing in, what you are spending on, you have to spend on the things we both know are effective and sustainable and stop investing in the things that aren’t effective or sustainable,” said Moore.
The governor also said he will be holding a cabinet meeting on Friday to lay out some of the details of what he hopes to cut.
Governor Moore said he expects to roll out his budget next week.
