Gov. John Carney steps down before official end of term

DELAWARE – Governor John Carney is stepping down on Tuesday before the official end of his term.

Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, who lost her bid for election in November, will be sworn in as the First State’s 75th Governor. Hall-Long will serve the remaining two weeks of Carney’s term before Governor-Elect Matt Meyer is sworn in on January 21st.

Carney is on his way to a new job as the Mayor of Wilmington.
