Good Morning Delmarva discusses the “Learn & Burn” Workshop hosted by the Delaware Prescribed Fire Council
WMDT – The Delaware Prescribed Fire Council is hosting a “Learn & Burn” workshop on January 31st.
It’s an opportunity to learn more about prescribed fire which is a land management tool practiced in Delaware.
Sam Topper, the wildland fire supervisor, who oversees some of the programs for the Delaware fire service department of agriculture says it’s becoming more crucial than ever that the public is educated on this tool as we are facing urban sprawl plus wild and urban interface more often.
This workshop will introduce you to the council and their efforts. They want you to leave the event knowing why this is happening, why it’s important and what they’re doing to ensure it’s as safe as possible.
You can even expect to see a short demonstration of a prescribed fire.
But most of all they want you to know prescribed fire is not just for state forest property.
Their services are available to anyone in the state.
