Former Cape star named track athlete of the week

CHARLOTTE, Nc. – Trey Leggins is a former Cape track star and basketball player. He likes to run.

He is now running in college for the Royals Of Queens University, and Leggins with his speed was recently named Atlantic Sun Conference Track Athlete of The Week. He placed first in the 400 meters with a time of 50.7.

Leggins talked about his performance: “I’ve been putting in a lot of work. Coaches have been seeing it, teammates have been seeing it. So coming in, I just wanted to do my best. I went out and executed my race, I felt like, pretty well. When I came to the finish line, I was pretty happy with the time, because last the year I came through at, around 52 to 53 seconds and I wasn’t really prepared as well as I am this year. So it was really good to come through at that time.”
