Explosion at Queen Anne’s Co. cannabis extraction facility under investigation

STEVENSVILLE, Md. – An investigation is continuing following an explosion at a cannabis extraction facility in Queen Anne’s County that left two employees injured on Wednesday.

Just before 2 p.m., firefighters were called to PharmaCann, located in the 300 block of Log Canoe Circle. Fire sprinklers contained the damage, and Hazmat teams from Anne Arundel and Dorchester Counties responded to assist.

Investigators confirmed that the explosion happened in an extraction booth where propane and butane were used. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Officials say two people were injured, one of whom is listed as severe but not life threatening.

Due to the damage, nearby properties at 337, 343, 345, and 351 Log Canoe Circle were evacuated and temporarily closed.

The exact cost of the damage has not yet been determined, but damages are estimated to be over $250,000.
