Emerging Leader: Dr. Patricia Saelens

WMDT – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader.

Dr. Patricia Saelens is the superintendent of Queen Anne’s County Public Schools.

She was recently selected as a volunteer leader for the American Heart Association’s Eastern States Superintendent Council.

Dr. Saelens tells us this partnership will have a lasting positive impact on students’ habits.

We’re told most of the elementary schools in the county participate in challenges with the American Heart Association.

These challenges promote healthy habits and teach students to avoid creating poor habits.

Big areas they’re focusing on include vaping, CPR, and shareable skills.

They emphasize the importance of not just a healthy physical body but an overall healthy being.
