Delmarva residents plowing, shoveling their way through snowstorm
DELMARVA. – Monday saw the biggest snowfall on Delmarva in three years and some folks had to dust off some old equipment to plow through all of the fluffy stuff.
Delmar, Del. resident, Jim Ennis was pleasantly surprised when he woke up to inches of snow, but was ready to pull out his snow blower.
“I’m getting too old to shovel snow, so I went and bought this. I used it one time, and every winter I get it out and get it ready and it hasn’t snowed, and I hope to carry on that tradition, but it didn’t work this year,” Ennis said.
Edwin Gill decided not to risk the drive into the office and instead walked a couple of steps out of his home and got to work, shoveling the sidewalk.
“Snowplows haven’t really been through here, and as far as road conditions, I think they might get a little better,” Gill said. “I’m cleaning up the sidewalk for some people to walk through here, so they won’t trip and fall.”
And just like that red snow blower sat in the Ennis’s garage, waiting for its moment to shine, so did all of his winter attire.
“I’ve got a heated hoodie that has a battery, and insulated socks, insulated coveralls, I’m trying to stay warm,” Ennis said.
