Code Purple of Milford in need of Volunteers
MILFORD, Del. – Code Purple is calling on local women to volunteer at their shelter in Milford.
With temperatures set to drop even more next week, the shelter is opening its doors to unhoused women in Milford. But their operation wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers who are on night watch.
Site coordinator, Martha Gery is asking women who are fortunate enough to sleep in a warm bed every night, to volunteer some of their time to women who seek refuge at the shelter.
“What you experience in 5 minutes is what they’re going to experience all night,” Gery said. “If you get that quick blast, you’re going to understand how important it is, even with their coats, hats and scarves, to have some place to stay.”
