Car crash in Dover leaves child seriously injured and a man arrested for DUI

DOVER, Del. – Police recently arrested Lamar Howard after investigating a serious car crash in Dover yesterday.

According to police, they received a call about the crash around 1:45 p.m.

When officers arrived at the 700 block of East Loockerman St., they found a one-year-old boy seriously injured.

Howard was driving a 2012 Dodge Durango under the influence of marijuana when he veered off of East Loockerman and hit a tree.

The child was not restrained properly in his car set leading to his injuries.

The one-year-old, who is in critical condition, was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus and then airlifted to a hospital in New Castle County.

The female passenger had no injuries.

Officers found 69 grams of marijuana in the car and packaging material.

Howard is facing charges of DUI, assault first-degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, among other charges.
