Brain Injury expert shares tips for preventing winter sports injuries on Good Morning Delmarva
WMDT – Now that it’s winter, fun activities like skiing down the slopes or playing a game of hockey could be on your mind, but this month is also Winter Sports Brain Injury Awareness Month!
Injuries related to winter sports can be susceptible to causing concussions or other traumatic brain injuries.
Brain injury expert, Zari Weaver from the Brain Injury Association of Maryland, explains some of the symptoms to look out for and what to do if you think you have an injury.
Brain fog is a prevalent symptom that can result in trouble problem-solving or leave you confused.
She suggests you tell a family member or friend first, then go to the doctor.
Most importantly, make sure you wear a helmet while enjoying winter activities. It’s vital that you wear a helmet appropriate for the sport.
Weaver also reminds you it’s not just winter sports that can cause a head injury.
