UPDATE: Woman dies from injuries sustained in Millsboro house fire

12/10 UPDATE: Delaware State Fire Marshals say the victim in this fire died from her injuries on Monday.

The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Donna Jackson of Bridgeville.

MILLSBORO, Del. – Saturday evening, a house fire in Millsboro sent one woman to the hospital in serious condition.

Just before 6 pm, the Gumsboro Volunteer Fire Company and mutual aid fire companies responded to reports of a fire on the 22000 block of Westwoods Road in Millsboro.

On scene, they found heavy flames coming from a single-story home.

One female occupant was inside at the time of the fire and had to be removed by neighbors. She was transported by ambulance to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Damage is estimated at $200,000. The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal determined the fire originated at the front porch area of the structure. The initial cause of the fire is still under investigation.
