Volunteers get their hands dirty planting trees in Wicomico Co.
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Delmarva Free School brought the community together in an environmentally friendly way.
The organization partnered with the Lower Shore Land Trust to plant trees and create a perennial native meadow on 1.5 acres of land in Wicomico County.
The phased project is bringing in people in recovery, connecting them with nature and encouraging overall wellness for the volunteers. Founder of the Delmarva Free School, Kelly McMullen said this initiative helps people heal on different levels.
“The holiday season, there’s plenty of conflict in the world, and it’s so important to slow down, reconnect with yourself and have chances to reconnect in meaningful ways with each other,” McMullen said.
