Two juveniles arrested in connection to Christmas Eve homicide in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police have arrested two juveniles in connection to the Christmas Eve shooting that claimed the life of a 14-year-old.

Just before 7 p.m. on December 24th, officers were called to Bayhealth Kent Campus for a report of a 14-year-old male who was at the hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was flown to a New Castle County hospital for treatment, where he died from his injuries on December 27th.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was sitting in a parked vehicle on Willis Road, just north of North Little Creek Road, when two men reportedly approached the vehicle. One of the suspects fired several rounds at the vehicle, subsequently hitting the victim, before fleeing on foot.

Detectives were able to identify the suspects as a 15-year-old male and 13-year-old male, both of Dover. Both were taken into custody on Saturday and charged with second degree murder, first degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, first degree reckless endangering, and criminal mischief. They were held at the Stevenson House Detention Center on a $181,000 cash bond each.
