Senator Carozza plans to put a stop to proposed U.S Wind offshore project at the upcoming General Assembly session.
OCEAN CITY Md. – Controversy still surrounds U.S. Wind’s proposed offshore wind project in Ocean City, Maryland. Lawmakers will meet to discuss the subject at the General Assembly session in January.
State Senator Mary Beth Carozza worries about how the turbines would affect the view on the beach.
She believes the project will affect fishermen and marine life. The concerns from many local officials and community residents have stirred up a federal lawsuit.
Senator Carozza plans to work hard at the General Assembly session to block the project from coming to fruition.
“The negative impacts on marine life, and our horseshoe crab industry, that we have here on our Ocean City Harbor. Our colleagues are realizing something they voted for years ago, and some of them weren’t in the Maryland General Assembly. We’re going to let them know this is not the right way to go.”
There will be a public hearing on the project on January 7th at the Ocean City Convention Center.
