Police urging public to report suspicious drone activity in Delaware

DELAWARE – Delaware State Police are aware of recent sightings of potential drone activity across the state and are asking the public to responsibly report any suspicious activity.
If you find a drone in a suspicious area or the appearance of suspicious activity, police ask that you report it to the Delaware Anti-Terrorism Tipline at 1-800-FORCE-1-2.
Police are also reminding the public that shooting at aircraft (including drones) is illegal, and many legal aircraft have lights visible at night. Drone flights after dark are allowed under certain conditions. Additionally, before reporting, police encourage everyone to use free resources such as FlightAware, Flightradar24, and ADSBexchange to help identify aircraft that may appear unusual but are operating legally.
If you see suspicious activity, police encourage you to capture clear video evidence if it is safe to do so, and record as many specific details as possible, including the sighting’s date, time, duration, and location. You should also note the size, movement, and unique features of the object.
If you see a drone on the ground, you should stay at a safe distance and call 911 immediately.
