BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Congratulations are in order for WMDT’s December Teacher Who Makes A Difference. Mr. Aaron Voss is a 4th-grade reading teacher at Phillis Wheatley Elementary School.

Voss has been teaching for over 20 years and says it’s his parent’s efforts to help their foster kids learn how to read that inspired him to become an educator. His students and their parents tell us that Voss uses fun and unique teaching methods.

Whether reading in the voice of Maui from Moana or dancing to capture his student’s attention. Voss says it’s these types of tactics he’s developed as a teacher to keep kids interested, and eager to learn, and encourage other educators to find what works for them. “I just come to do my job and help my kids. I don’t really expect any rewards or anything but it’s great.” Voss adds, “I can joke around with my kids, I have all sorts of stories I tell them, and just keep them wanting to come and be happy in my room and make it a family.”

The Teacher Who Makes A Difference award is brought to you in part by Pam Price and Associates. WMDT surprised Mr. Curtis with goodies, flowers, and a certificate.
