Pair charged following incident at Talbot Co. basketball game

ST. MICHAELS, Md. – Two people were charged following an incident at a high school basketball game in Talbot County earlier this month.

On December 19th, Talbot County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to St. Michaels High School for a reported fight that started during the high school boys’ basketball game. It was reported that hard play on the court escalated to an altercation between players, leading to adults entering the court from the stands. Two individuals, identified as 60-year-old Leonard Bell and 22-year-old Kasai Thompson, reportedly assaulted players from the opposing team. Coaches were able to separate the players and control the crowd prior to deputies’ arrival, with the opposing team seated on their bus and the local team seated in the gymnasium.

Two juvenile players from the opposing team allegedly complaining that they were assaulted by adults from the stands, later identified as Bell and Thompson. Both suspects were served with assault and disorderly conduct charges and are awaiting court hearings.
