OCPD arrest man on charges stemming from two fatal overdoses

OCEAN CITY, Md. – A man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in two fatal overdoses early this year in Ocean City.

The investigation began during the evening hours of January 18th, when Ocean City Police officers responded to a welfare check at a hotel near 22nd Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find two deceased individuals, determining that both deaths were caused by drug overdoses.

Detectives gathered substantial evidence linking Elijah Kellam to the distribution of the involved drugs. Last month, a Worcester County Grand Jury indicted Kellam on two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance. Police say they found controlled dangerous substances on Kellam’s person during his arrest, and he also had an outstanding bench warrant from Wicomico County.

Kellam has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance CDS not marijuana and possession of contraband in a place of confinement.

Kellam was held without bond and transferred to the custody of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.
