Man arrested in connection to string of burglaries in Kent Co.
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars following a string of reported burglaries throughout Kent County.
Police say the first incident took place at around 3 a.m. on November 24th, at the Ollies Bargain Outlet on S. Governor’s Avenue, Dover. It was determined that the suspect used a crowbar to force entry into the business and stole a safe containing an unknown amount of money before fleeing. At approximately 7 a.m. the same day, troopers were called to God’s Way Thrift Store on S. Dupont Highway for another reported burglary. It was determined that the suspect broke a window to the business, stole an unknown amount of money, and fled.
On December 6th, troopers were called to Delaware Auto Exchange on S. Dupont Highway in Felton, learning that the suspect used a crowbar to enter the business and tried to access money from the registers, but none was found. The suspect then fled. Additionally, on this day, Smyrna Police began investigating a burglary at End Zone, determining that the suspect used a crowbar to break into the business and steal a safe.
On December 9th, troopers responded to Village Produce on S. Dupont Highway in Dover, determining that the suspect forced entry with a crowbar and stole two safes containing money.
Through a collaboration between Smyrna Police and Delaware State Police, the suspect was identified as 33-year-old Kenneth Yarborough, who was arrested on Wednesday following a search warrant at his residence. Detectives also recovered the book bag he was seen within surveillance footage and clothing consistent with that worn during the burglaries.
Yarborough was charged with four counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, four counts of third degree burglary, four counts of possession of burglar tools, theft $1500 or greater, attempt to commit theft under $1500, two counts of theft under $1500, and four counts of criminal mischief under $1000. He was released on his own recognizance on these charges, however, he remains in custody due to a probation violation.
