Family displaced after fire in Frederica
FEDERICA, Del. – Investigators from the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing to probe the cause of an early morning house fire in Frederica.
The fire was reported shortly after 1:00 a.m. in the 4000 block of Johnnycake Landing Road. The Frederica Fire Company, along with multiple mutual aid fire companies, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames coming from both the front and rear of the residence. All occupants were able to safely escape, though some family pets did not survive. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross has been called to assist the displaced family. Fire investigators are focusing on the fire’s origin, which is believed to have started inside the attached garage. The investigation remains ongoing.
