Dover man arrested on numerous charges following pedestrian stop
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man was arrested on weapons charges stemming from a pedestrian stop
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday, law enforcement contacted a man in the area of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and South Bay Road for failing to use the crosswalk when crossing the road. The man, later identified as 18-year-old Jhasir George, reportedly ran away from officers, throwing a handgun in the process.
George was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, and officers were able to recover the gun, a loaded Glock 19 with a “switch”, giving it fully automatic capability.
Police say it was also learned that George had an active warrant from the Kent County Superior Court and Dover Police Department.
From Superior Court, George was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, three counts of first degree reckless endangerment, and second degree conspiracy. He was held at SCI on a $90,000 cash bail.
He was issued an additional $47,001 cash bail on multiple charges from the Dover Police Department, including two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a destructive weapon, and resisting arrest.
