Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore reaches $1 million in donations

SALISBURY, Md. – The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore said it well surpassed their Giving Tuesday goal of $500,000.

They doubled it through their Shore Gives More initiative, receiving a whopping $1 million which will be divided out to 140 local organizations in need. That includes Salisbury PFLAG and the Christian Shelter and many others.

President of the Community Foundation, Erica Joseph, is thrilled with the turnout and said community members were some of the main contributors to this year’s success.

“It was so heartwarming to see that the response of the community,” Joseph said. “It started strong and in the early giving and it went through the entire day yesterday, even into the last hours of the campaign, so that just shows how compelling our nonprofit community is.”

The Richard A. Henson Foundation also played a big role in bringing that number up. Executive Director Stacey McMichael said the Foundation partnered with CFES to provide a $250,000 matching challenge, helping break a new record in CFES history.

“I was giddy over how they embraced this challenge and how they really exceeded every expectation that our board had for the challenge,” McMichael said.
