City of Salisbury preparing for a safe & exciting New Year’s Eve celebration

Tips For A Safe New Years

SALISBURY, Md. – This time next week the City of Salisbury will begin preparations to set up for their New Year’s Eve celebration, and city officials want everyone to know that safety and fun are at top of mind.

The New Year’s Eve spectacular will kick off at 9 p.m.  in Downtown Salisbury with a host of concert performances leading up to midnight where the ball will drop to ring in the New Year!

The night will begin with performances by A.M.P. Studios, followed by the first round of trivia at 9:45 p.m. The music then continues with Housing Co. taking the stage from 10 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., and the second round of trivia will follow shortly after at 10:45 p.m.

The night will then culminate with a special performance by Honest Lee Soul from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with the highly anticipated ball drop at midnight to ring in 2025!

There will also be a free photo booth and a bunch of other activities, including Salisbury’s Shining Star Contest — where the best dressed attendee in the shiniest outfit will get the chance to join officials on stage for the ball drop.

“Our Salisbury Shining Star competition which encourages people to wear your shiniest, most elaborate outfit, your most shining personality, and you get to compete for an opportunity to press the ball to go down at midnight,” explained Nadine Brittingham, media specialist with the City of Salisbury.

City officials say the contest was a great way for people to stay visible in an effort to increase safety as the event will be held outside at night. That’s along with a number of other measures the city has taken to ensure the night is full of fun and safe for everyone.

Our events team starts early in the afternoon – clearing out the whole space – making sure everything is safe,” Brittingham explained. “Safe of vehicles, and then we also have our police presence on force, they’re on the ground making sure everybody’s good and having a great time.”

Throughout the evening, delicious food and alcoholic beverages will be available for sale on-site from Mad Hatter Cafe.

The ball will drop at midnight and will be set up over the Government Office Building downtown on North Division Street where the stage and performances will also be located.
