CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge residents hit the polls again on Tuesday to determine their future Mayor in a runoff election.

The results are still coming in, but it looks like Lajan Cephas will be the City’s new Mayor come January.

Cephas ran against former mayor Andrew Bradshaw, who served between 2020 and 2022 before stepping down in January 2022 after being arrested on revenge porn charges. Cephas was, at one time, charged with assault and was later exonerated. She is the current President of the Cambridge Commissioners and also served as interim Mayor following Bradshaw’s departure and before current Mayor Steve Rideout’s tenure.

Bradshaw posted a video on Facebook conceding the election and sending his final message to the residents of Cambridge and Cephas, saying, “As disappointed as I am, we ran I think ac lean campaign, we didn’t get into the gutter, we really tried to do the best that we could to ensure that it was a campaign about the issues facing Cambridge. I hope and pray for the city and that we all stick together and give her the support she deserves having won this.”

The election results have not yet been certified.
