Airport officials give traveling advice for the holiday

Travel Tips

MARYLAND – More than 2.3 million Marylanders are expected to travel 50 miles or more from their home by the end of the year, according to AAA.

The holiday season is the busiest time for travel, and this week is no different at the Salisbury Airport, and they give the details on destinations this holiday season.

Check- In

Salisbury Airport Director Tony Rudy says the majority of airlines haven’t experienced any significant pricing changes, and security protocols remain the same. “As typical with any holiday travel, our flights are pretty much full. So, we encourage people to get here early, get checked in, be here at least an hour ahead of time, especially if you’ve got checked baggage.”

Delays

Like any holiday, Director Rudy says TSA lines will be long, however, he expects smooth takeoffs this holiday. “So, we’re not expecting any delays here locally, but there could be delays at the connecting airports like Philadelphia and Charlotte. Depending on the weather, depending on air traffic, and other factors. But as of right now, I haven’t heard of any major delays.”

Changes

Often times, people flying during the holidays want to bring presents as carry-ons and forget what is or isn’t allowed. He says don’t forget that travel toiletries must be under three ounces, and if you need to fix something with your flight plans, you better do it now. “If they need to make a last-minute change, do it as early as they can. Go on the reservation websites, try to get that resolved because it’s probably going to take a little bit longer to get somewhere you may normally would during the rest of the year.”

The Salisbury Regional Airport is located at and if you need more information visit their website. For any and all other travel questions, Director Rudy says to visit the TSA, Transportation Security Administration’s website to get those answers.
