Worcester County Developmental Center food insecurity fundraiser

Newark, MD.- The holiday season is approaching, and what’s cooler than helping someone out while receiving a unique gift?

The Worcester County Developmental Center is holding a fundraiser to help with food insecurity called the Empty Bowl Project.

These bowls serve as a reminder of those who go hungry in our community.

The bowls are on sale for $20 each, and all proceeds will be donated to Diakonia to support their pantry.

Amanda Smith an artist of bowls tells us more about the bowls “Well we make these bowls out of clay and we’re selling them. Here’s some of our glazed ones here, and what she’s going to do she has a soup recipe and she attaches a soup recipe to it.”

The bowls are available for preorder, and the last day to preorder is November 22nd.
