Worcester Co. Sheriff’s Deputy involved in head-on crash

WORCESTER CO., Md. – The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was involved in a head-on crash Friday morning.

According to police, the deputy was driving southbound on Racetrack Road when a GMC van reportedly exited the TidalHealth Ocean Pines Campus at Cathage Road. The van crossed over into the southbound lane, driving north, directly into the path of the deputy’s car. The two vehicles then allegedly crashed head-on in front of the Shore Stop/Valero gas station.

The deputy was taken to Atlantic General Hospital for medical evaluation. The driver of the van was taken to TidalHealth.

We’re told both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
