Vehicle chase leads to drug charges for Greenwood man

1280 Richard Boyd

LINCOLN, Del. – A Greenwood man is behind bars following a chase near Lincoln Tuesday evening.

Just after 7 p.m., police were on patrol on Calhoun Road near Rust Road when they saw a Dodge Durango on the side of the road with its hazard lights on. Detectives stopped to check on the vehicle, but it reportedly drove away and refused to stop for police. During the chase, detectives allegedly saw the driver throw drugs out of the SUV. The vehicle finally stopped in the parking lot of Shawnee Country Store, at which time the driver, 56-year-old Richard Boyd, was arrested.

A search of the area where the drugs were thrown, as well as a search of the Durango, led to the recovery of approximately 7.5 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 0.69 grams of heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Boyd was arrested on multiple drug offenses and held at SCI on a $20,500 secured bond.
