University of Maryland Eastern Shore has homecoming week

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is capping off its homecoming week, the school’s homecoming started last Sunday and has included parades, alumni luncheons, and pep rallies for the UMES community to enjoy.

At the UMES track, the school hosted a tailgate with music, food, and comradery on Sunday.

The Vice President of Strategic Marketing for UMES Robert Vickers believes events like this help build community in the area.

“It is community building, it’s connecting generations, and it’s connecting with groups and constituency groups that may not think they are part of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore or other HBCUs. HBCUs are for everyone, and we encourage everyone to join the community and enjoy this rich legacy and culture.”

The school will finish off homecoming week with a church service and gospel concert at Metropolitan United Methodist Church.
