Theft at West OC store leads to numerous arrests

WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office arrested multiple people for allegedly stealing from the Under Armour Outlet Store last week.

During the evening hours of November 7th, deputies were called to the store after employees reported that several individuals were in the process of stealing merchandise. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, which deputies spotted speeding towards the outlet’s exit. The vehicle did not comply with the attempted traffic stop, fleeing into the Town of Berlin, where it briefly slowed to allow one of the passengers to allegedly jump out of the vehicle and flee on foot. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jakhai Woodard, was quickly taken into custody by Berlin Police and Maryland State Police. He was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance intended for distribution and had an active warrant from Worcester County Circuit Court.

Police say the suspect vehicle continued driving through Berlin and into Wicomico County, where stop sticks were used to stop the vehicle in the area of Airport Road in Salisbury. The remaining four occupants of the vehicle were arrested, and police found 33 items of Under Armour clothing inside the vehicle, valued at $2,347. Police say the investigation confirmed that four of the five suspects illegally removed the items from the store, and although it was initially reported as a robbery, the incident was determined to be a theft.

Woodard was charged with theft $1500 to under $25,000, theft $100 to under $1500, second degree burglary, and CDS possession with intent to distribute. He was also served with an existing Circuit Court warrant and was held on a $25,000 bond.

29-year-old Ajaih Tull was charged with theft $1500 to under $25,000, theft $100 to under $1500, second degree burglary, and multiple traffic citations, and was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

22-year-old Na’Bria Lewis was charged with theft $1500 to under $25,000, theft $100 to under $1500, and second degree burglary, and was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

21-year-old Dai’onna Dale was charged with theft $1500 to under $25,000, theft $100 to under $1500, and second degree burglary, and was held on a $10,000 bond.

Police say a fifth individual in the vehicle was released at the scene without charges.
