Sussex Academy to defend title in championship game

MILFORD, Del. – Sussex Academy defeated Caravel in the Division-II semifinal, 1-0, to advance to the state title game.

Both teams had numerous opportunities to score with no luck until the closing moment.

Coming down to the last minutes of the second half Andres Romero-Nieto would put the Seahawks on the board, and the Seahawks would advance to the championship game for the second straight year.

When asked about his team Coach RJ Dina has this to say:

“Listen, we’re excited. We worked for it all year long. They set goals two years ago to be at this point at the end of most of their careers and you can’t say enough about their character. Throughout the season, this is the first game all year that we’ve played with the starting eleven… You can’t express how excited that makes you coming into this, and I think that excited them to compete today. I’ll tell you it’s been fun to watch this group over the last two years compete.”

The Seahawks will play St. Andrew’s Saturday.
