Salisbury Paramedic Foundation champions lifesaving initiatives on Giving Tuesday
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Paramedic Foundation is hoping to bring in at least $6,000 for Giving Tuesday. It’s part of the Shore Gives More campaign, a partnership with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.
The Salisbury Paramedic Foundation supports opportunities for resources, expertise, governance, credentialing and research that will directly impact the Salisbury Fire Department and its community. Right now they have two projects they are focused on supporting: AEDs and scholarships.
The SPF hopes to install 50 public access AEDs throughout the City and Wicomico County. They installed their first one at the Salisbury City park earlier this year.
The Captain Bryan Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund honors the legacy and contributions of the Firefighter/Paramedic. It provides scholarships for students interested in pursuing a career as a paramedic, recently awarding the first two at Wor-Wic Community College.
Officials say they hope both initiatives will support what they say is great healthcare already happening in Salisbury.
“At least for the City, is that 29 percent of our patients, cardiac patients, are resuscitated and admitted and the national average is ten percent,” explains SPF Board Member Debi Hammel.
