Registration opens for annual Diakonia Turkey Trot

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Thanksgiving isn’t until later this month, but Diakonia wants to get you thinking about it early.

That’s because the organization has opened up registration for their annual Turkey Trot 5k, taking place on Thanksgiving Day.

Diakonia provides support for people experiencing homelessness, offering resources like food and clothing. But to make it all possible, they depend on the Turkey Trot to raise money.

Executive director, Ken Argot, said this year, they’re hoping to raise at least $30,000.

“It’s a 5k fun-run and walk. It’s not serious, nobody’s timed or anything like that, and it’s just a great way to start your Thanksgiving Day, especially when you’re going to be eating all that food,” Argot said. “You can kind of burn all of those calories off and it’s kind of a justification to eat the food.”

To register now, visit DiakoniaOC.org. The registration fee before November 21st is $35.
