Police arrest one of three suspects in Dover robbery
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man was arrested Tuesday evening following a robbery in the Wawa parking lot.
Just after 5 p.m., officers were called to the parking lot of the business, located at 298 South DuPont Boulevard, for a reported robbery. The victim reported that they were getting gas when they were approached by three men. One of the suspects allegedly pulled out a firearm and demanded the victim turn over the keys to his vehicle. The victim complied, and all three suspects fled the area in the vehicle.
At around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers on patrol saw two of the three suspects walking on foot in the Capital Green area. Officers contacted the pair, identified as 18-year-old Cameron Gibbs and a 17-year-old male. Gibbs was taken into custody after a brief struggle, however, the 17-year-old fled on foot and has not been found.
Gibbs was found in possession of a .38 caliber revolver and property belonging to the victim. Police say the vehicle has not been recovered at this time. It is described as a gray 2018 Toyota Rav 4 with Delaware registration PC803720.
Gibbs was charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, second degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. He was held at SCI on a $90,000 secured bond.
