Hollamon named Big Ten defensive player of the year

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Delmar graduate Josie Hollamon has been named the Big Ten field hockey defensive player of the year.

Hollamon, a sophomore with the University of Maryland, has started every game on defense. She’s shut down some of the best offensive players in the nation while also contributing five goals and five assists on the offensive side of the ball.

Hollamon was also named tfirst team all-conference.

The Terps are the second seed and play in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Maryland finished 12-5 in the regular season, ranked sixth in the nation.
