Greater Salisbury Committee Housing Task Force releases housing report
Housing Crisis
Wicomico County, Md. – Housing continues to be a concern on the Eastern Shore, and the Greater Salisbury Committee is determined to address housing needs in the area.
The Housing Task Force released an extensive report on the housing crisis in Wicomico County. It reveals there has been development in Sussex County, West Ocean City, and Ocean Pines, but not much in Salisbury. That’s according to Mike Dunn, President and CEO of the Greater Salisbury Committee, and head of the Task Force.
He says we have aging housing stock and need more modern neighborhoods, and that the Task Force was created to identify the problem, aggregate resources, and find solutions. “We don’t have enough supply,” says Dunn. “And we have not been building homes since the great recession, and in order to try and attract more of our workforce, and then call Salisbury and Wicomico County home, we need more houses.”
The report has been presented to the Wicomico County Council and on Monday, November 18th at 4:30, it will be presented in front of the Salisbury City Council. If you need more information on the Task Force, details can be found on their website.
