Emerging Leaders: Ashley Marcum and Zainab Jabeen

WMDT – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to two new emerging leaders.

Ashley Marcum and Zainab Jabeen are seniors at Salisbury University and a part of their 2025 presidential citizens scholars’ program.

This morning, they joined us to tells us more about their roles and how they got involved.

The program focuses on civil engagement for 3 semesters allowing students to work with community leaders to better the area.

Currently, they are working with Somerset County and Wicomico County officials to conduct a survey.

Today is the last day to participate in the survey and it asks for your input on what you think the community needs.

Ashley Marcum says her friend was a part of the program previously and it sparked her interest. She says she loves helping people which is why she chose to pursue early childhood and elementary education.

Zainab Jabeen tells us that she sees the program as a chance to branch out and speak out more to those in Delmarva. Jabeen says that the networking opportunities are a big benefit!
