Drug investigation leads to arrest of wanted Smyrna man

1280 Wayman

SMYRNA, Del. – A Smyrna man is behind bars on charges stemming from an investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics.

The investigation began earlier this month and involved 25-year-old Nasir Wayman, who also had a capias warrant for his arrest. At around 7:30 p.m. Monday, detectives on patrol saw a Kia Optima being driven by Wayman. They stopped the vehicle after it pulled into the Acme parking lot, at which time Wayman reportedly fled on foot, discarding drugs in the parking lot. Wayman was eventually arrested after the chase and Taser deployment.

Detectives searched the parking lot, vehicle, and Wayman, and found approximately 4.05 grams of heroin and a loaded 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number.

Wayman was charged with numerous drug and weapons charges, as well as resisting arrest. He was held at SCI on a $70,000 cash bond.
