Denton house fire deemed accidental

DENTON, Md. – A house fire in Denton Friday afternoon was ruled accidental by Maryland State Fire Marshals.

The fire was reported shortly after 12 p.m. in the 100 block of Primrose Avenue. Crews were able to control the blaze in approximately five minutes.

Further investigation revealed that the fire began in a second story closest and was caused after a juvenile reportedly stoled an acetylene torch equipped with a built-in starter improperly.

Total damage was estimated at $11,500.
