Delmar wins district title
DELMAR, Del. – The Wildcats led a fourth quarter comeback to defeat Woodbridge, 26-21, and clinch the class 2A district 3 title Friday night.
Isaiah Holbrook’s bruising run on short yardage gave Delmar a two-touchdown lead heading into halftime.
Woodbridge came alive out of the locker room, with two touchdowns from Malachi Hayes. The Blue Raiders led the Wildcats, 21-20, with one quarter to play.
Delmar linebacker Clayton Cramer’s sack on third and long pinned Woodbridge deep in their own territory, giving Delmar excellent field position.
The Wildcats would capitalize, marching down the field on a drive that was capped off by another short run by Holbrook.
Delmar finishes the regular season 9-1, while Woodbridge finishes 7-3. Both teams will learn where they slot into the 2A playoff picture when the brackets are released by DIAA on Sunday.
