Crowds gather for 4th Annual Shore Good Truck Show and Pull

EASTON, Md. – Huge crowds assembled at the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association Grounds Saturday, for the 4th Annual Shore Good Truck Show and Pull.

When you’ve dedicated your life to trucking, you take pride in what your rig can do. “It’s pride, horsepower and pride, yeah. So you have the most horsepower, biggest motor, King of the Hill type thing,” said Sonny Griffin, who’s been a truck driver for over 40 years.

Some came to display their trucks and others came for the pull competition. Brandon Myers enjoyed the camaraderie: “A lot of the older guys out here have been trucking 40 plus years, so for young guys like myself that’s only been driving 13 years, you know, you get a lot of knowledge, old stories and just have a good time, you know.”

Griffin said the “Shore Good” Competition is a great experience, and he plans to come back next year with his own rig. “These guys here, they’re going to work tonight. Tomorrow you’ll see these same trucks all up and down the highways. I like it. This is more realistic…It’s my first truck show of the year. I hadn’t made any this year, and I said I definitely wanted to see this one because I’ve never been to this one. But I’ll definitely be back next year. I’ll have a truck here though.”

For Myers, and so many others, it felt like home. “I think some people are born to be astronauts. Some people are born to be conductors. I think for the most part, a lot of these guys, the older guys are are born to be truck drivers,” he said.
