Crash claims life of pedestrian in Berlin

BERLIN, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Berlin Saturday night.

At around 10:15 p.m., troopers were called to northbound Route 611 and Landing Boulevard for a reported crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a pedestrian, identified as 49-year-old Carolyn Long, was walking on Route 611 when she was hit by a 2011 Toyota Sienna. Long was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, identified as 69-year-old Christopher Miller, was interviewed by police and subsequently released.

We’re told police are investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
